Megaphone Privacy Policy

When you apply to take part in Megaphone, we will collect your name and the contact details you supply us with, in order to inform you about the progress of your application. We store this data electronically and retain it only as long as is necessary for these purposes. The data is not shared with any third party.

We may also contact you to inform you about other opportunities for children’s writers. If you do not want to hear from us simply email us and say ‘remove me from your mailing list’.

We may ask you to complete surveys. This is always optional. The data collected is not linked to your application in any way. Our purpose in carrying out surveys is to find out what you think about what we do and how we can improve.

We will not sell your details or pass them on without your consent. An example of when we might seek your consent to pass on your details might be if an editor showed an interest in your writing sample and wanted to discuss it with you.

By applying to Megaphone you are agreeing that the named editors and/ or agents judging the shortlist will have access to your writing sample. They will not be given your name, contact details or covering letter without your consent.

Megaphone does not act as an agent or middle-man and will not have any sort of role or claim in any contract you enter into with a literary agent or publisher.
